Champions Once Again

Scott Atkins and Kevin MacDonald captured their second FCC Doubles title on a steamy Sunday afternoon in front of a crowd of 17 FCC members.

After winning a back and forth first set 6-4, the eventual champions took a nap, allowing Hull and Preston to rally for a 6-3 second set win.  Opportunities were there for Atkins / MacDonald in the second set, but they could not consolidate their service breaks with a hold of their own.

The two teams completed this showdown by playing a match Tie-Break to determine the 3rd set.  Once again, Atkins and MacDonald started hot, going up 3-0 and 4-1, only to have their opponents fight back to 8-all.  It looked as if momentum would carry Hill / Preston to the title.

Both teams played their best tennis during the Tie-Break, staying even on score at 9-all and 10-all. Finally, Atkins and MacDonald prevailed on their 3rd match point to win the Tie-Break 12-10.

8/9 6PM - Men’s 6.0 RR: Cosiano/MacDonald v Walton/Steffen

8/10 6:30PM - Men’s 7.5+ RR: Stumpp/Atkins v Dale/Ostrander

8/11 9AM - Ladies 7.5 FINALS: Heck/Spragg v Hohman/Spears

8/12 6:30PM - Men’s RR: Little/Jones v Dale/Ostrander

All matches are weather permitting and may be played indoors if it rains.   

Maximum Thrill

In front of a capacity crowd of 27, JJ Preston and Matt Hull defeated defending champions JD Dale and Ken Lather by a score of 6-2, 6-4 Wednesday night.  This is Preston and Hull's first FCC Championship.  

Men's Finals Ready to Go

We hope all of you can come over Wednesday August 23rd at 6:30pm to watch the championship final as defending champs JD Dale and Ken Lather take on first time finalists JJ Preston and Matt Hull.  It promises to have plenty of power, finesse, passion, cursing and maybe some crying too.  

Ladies Defend Championship

Jane Heck and Suzie Spragg successfully defended their title this week, winning every match in their round robin event.  Way to go ladies   !!

Stop by the FCC Courts Wednesday at 6:30pm to see some of the action from our first Ladies match of the tourney:

Susan Allen and Jane Bohnlein will take on Marti Price and Patti Zickert.   

Draws Posted
