Kid's Lessons

The 2020 Kid's Tennis Lessons at FCC start-up on Thursday June 11th.  

• Registration is REQUIRED.  Fees are per family, not per person. GREAT VALUE!!
• $40 PER SESSION.  $70 FOR EACH SESSION.  
• Fees will be applied to FCC member account.  
• Limit 12 students per class.

RedBall is Stage 1 in the Learning Pathway in children’s tennis program at Findlay Country Club.

WHAT IS REDBALL?

               RedBall is a tennis class specifically designed for ages 5-7. RedBall utilizes a 36’ court, and a softer, enlarged tennis ball that allows for more fun, success and safety.  This special ball allows for more time to for the child to swing at the ball as they learn the basic fundamentals of stroke technique.  Think of RedBall as “A fun tennis experience with a roadmap for future success.”

WHAT IS TAUGHT AT REDBALL?

·        Fundamentals of groundstrokes

·        Good sportsmanship and sharing of time and common space with others

·        The basic rules of the game and lines of the court

·        Helping children develop fine-motor-skills

·        Enjoying their time learning the game of tennis!

WHO TEACHES REDBALL?

               Due to the age of the child (5-7), RedBall is not taught the same way as other classes in our learning pathway.  Each instructor is trained to offer a kind, yet effective learning environment for each child.  Many of our instructors graciously VOLUNTEER their time to give back to the sport they love.  Our instructors have been chosen due to following qualities:

·        Patience with children learning a new skill

·        Knowledge of the game

·        Gentle personalities that help the children feel comfortable

·        Enjoyment in giving back to the sport they love

AGE 8-10   ORANGEBALL  $40 PER SESSION.  $70 FOR BOTH SESSIONS.

OrangeBall is Stage 2 in the Learning Pathway in children’s tennis development at Findlay Country Club.

WHAT IS ORANGEBALL?

OrangeBall is a class that utilizes a 60’ court, and a tennis ball compressed at only 50% of normal compression. This special ball allows the child more time to swing as they learn the basic fundamentals of stroke technique. While practicing with a ball that is engineered for the child, the smaller court will help extend rallies, which increases the exercise!

WHAT IS TAUGHT AT ORANGEBALL?

·        Fundamentals of groundstrokes, volleys, serving.

·        Good sportsmanship and sharing of time and common space with others

·        The basic rules of the game and lines of the court

·        Understanding proper court position as live point play is introduced

·        Enjoying their time learning the game of tennis!

WHO TEACHES ORANGEBALL?

GreenBall is Stage 3 in the Learning Pathway in children’s tennis development at Findlay Country Club.

 WHAT IS GREENBALL?

               GreenBall is a class that utilizes a full-size 78’ court, and a tennis ball compressed at 75% of a regular ball, allowing for more fun, success and safety, while preparing the student for the speed of a full-compression tennis ball.  This special ball allows the child more time to swing at the ball as they learn the basic fundamentals of stroke technique as well as learning the strategies that apply to singles and doubles.  This environment creates the perfect opportunity for the child to learn the value of consistency during live point play.

WHAT IS TAUGHT AT GREENBALL?

·        On-going refinement of stroke mechanics that have been taught at previous stages.

·        Good sportsmanship and sharing of time and common space with others

·        Understanding how to defend the rules of the game.

·        Learning the basics singles and doubles strategies.

·        Enjoying their time learning the game of tennis!

WHO TEACHES GREENBALL?

               GREENBALL is not taught the same way as other classes in our learning pathway.  Many of our instructors graciously VOLUNTEER their time to give back to the sport they love.  Our instructors have been chosen due to following qualities:

Kid's Day

We had a great first week of kid's lesson today! 16 children showed up, enjoying the fun and games.   We hope the kids keep coming back for more.   Classes continue every Thursday until July 6th.   

 

 

Children's Tennis Lessons

For those of you that missed this, I've posted the children's lesson schedule for this summer.  

• Thursday Kid's Lessons meet June 1 thru July 6 at the following times: 

-Ages 4-6 meet 11:30am-noon.  Instructors: Carissa, Sarah

-Ages 7-10 meet noon-1pm.  Instructors: Carissa, Sarah 
-Ages 11-13 meet noon-1pm.  Instructor: Bob 

 All kids classes include instruction on fundamentals, rules, good sportsmanship and most of all - FUN with tennis!!!  Come play whenever you want, no advance sign-up is
necessary. Lessons are complimentary to all FCC Members and $5 per child each week for non-members.

Kid's lessons were in full "swing" today at FCC. 6-8 year olds can play Thursday's 11:30-12pm; 9-12 year old kids play 12-1pm. FCC Members - FREE, Non-Members $10.
