Scenes from a Tournament

The round robin portion of this year’s championships are complete.  Here’s the schedule of matches that will decide the final two titles to be captured…..

MEN’S 7.5 CHAMPIONSHIP
Tuesday 8/31 6pm:
(1) Little / Jones vs (2) Atkins / Stumpp

MEN’S 6.0 CHAMPIONSHIP
Wednesday 9/1 6pm:
(1) Steffen / Walton vs (2) Cosiano / MacDonald

Both matches will feature a chair umpire and ballboys.  If you’ve never seen a match with ballboys, you’re in for a treat!

I’ve arranged to keep the pool bar open until each match concludes.  Please stop by, support our tennis 🎾 program and have a drink 🥃….or two.

Here’s some photos taken in the last few matches….

A Big "Hit" at New Player Event

Saturday's USTA New Player event was held at FCC with 10 players in attendance.  FCC member Brian Little, UF Coach Doug Linden and FCC Instructor Corinne Hoffman hosted an evening of fun games and drills for the players.

As of 2pm Saturday the tennis courts are open! Once again, William was a huge help.

Good Progress

This weekend brought more decent weather to get outside and continue prepping the clay courts.  Today William was learning how to handle a lute to fill last year’s nail holes.

He also picked up some leaves and debris that gathered in the corners over the winter. The courts must be cleared of all foreign material before rolling begins.

I’m very fortunate to have a son like William.  He always enjoys learning new skills and helping others.

Another Day in Paradise

Began the day by scraping last year's material off the courts.
Then my service cart died and needed to be towed back to the maintenance garage.

Court Work Begins Today !!!

Spent a chilly morning removing last year's lines and smoothing over the nail holes left behind.

Thanks go out to Big Jim and his crew for getting my service cart ready to go!

One Month and Counting........

In roughly a month's time, I'll begin my annual spring clean-up at the FCC Tennis Complex.

It's been an easy winter on the courts.  Mild temps and little snow will make for a very smooth surface this summer.

Stay tuned for photo updates as I (and probably William) get to work in early April.
