Opening Day Around The Corner

The lines were installed on Tuesday of this week.   That is a story in itself for another time! 

Regardless, the weather looks favorable for the weekend, allowing us to finish getting the facility ready for a busy tennis summer.  

Remember to make all court reservations through the FCC Online System.

The weather Gods are in our corner this spring! Court prep continues to progress at unprecedented rates.  The weather since March 15 has allowed me and BC to get a lot of work done ahead of schedule.  Maintenance Director Todd has installed protective screening on the main patio.  This will allow members to hang out on the patio while the courts are being watered without getting all wet! 

Here’s some photos from this morning’s prep work:

Court 1 & 2 - These two courts are more popular for member play.  Therefore, I spend extra time checking them for imperfections and removing every piece of dead material I see before the new Har-Tru is applied.  

Court 3 & 4 - I spent a few extra hours this spring clearing the surface of stone is exposed due to natural erosion of the base material. In future years we will need to perform a laser-guided tapering of the courts. Re-setting the grade to the proper slope is important for safer play and more consistent drainage.  

My trusty GOGO. We’ve been through a lot together, but I must admit, it would be nice to have a roof for those hot, sunny days.   

BC has rolled the courts numerous times this spring. He will roll north/south direction a lot because once the nets go up in May we can’t roll in that direction any longer! We must compact the base at just the right firmness before new material and lines are installed in coming weeks.

Tuesday 5/28:  Courts 1 and 2 are open this morning.   

Courts 3 and 4 have some standing water on the edges but can also be used for play.

Courts took on too much rain this morning.   No courts available until 11am.  

Saturday 9:30 drill will resume next week!

Momentum Continues

More good work done this week at the courts.   Total Tennis from Columbus comes in next week to lay new Har-Tru and grade courts.   

Good First Day

Took advantage of the awesome weather today.   Removed last year’s lines, last summer’s leaves, and brushed the courts to remove some uneven bumps.   Crew from

Columbus will be here in about 1 week to start the re-conditioning of the courts!

Traffic Cop

Signs are now hung on our new fence gates. Quite often the court maintenance will close one set of courts while the other set remains open for play.   Please observe these signs so the courts are not damaged when they're not in playing condition.  

Saturday July 21 - Courts Open

Classes and courts are open Saturday unless we receive more rain.  

Monday, June 11 - Raining

Still raining as of 8am.   Courts will remain remain CLOSED.   I will post announcement if courts can re-open today.
